An approval queue, or an invitation list
New sign-ups can land in a pending queue for a human to verify against your records before they see anything. Or you can run invite-only, where an account cannot exist without an invitation your team sent. Both are a configuration choice, not a different product, and you can change your mind later without a migration.
Groups that count themselves
Chapters, committees, cohorts, interest groups, mentors. Members can belong to many, and group counts are derived from membership rather than stored — so a number on screen cannot drift away from reality the way a cached total does. Renaming a group never re-derives its slug, so links you have already shared keep working.
Bulk actions for the work that is actually bulk
Select a filtered set and add all of them to a group, or export the lot. The pattern the whole panel follows applies here: after a mutation the list refreshes in place, on the page you were on, with the filters you had set. You do not get bounced back to page one of an unfiltered list having lost your place.
Every change on the record
Approving, suspending, reinstating, changing a role, editing someone else's profile, running an export — each writes an audit entry naming the administrator, the record and the moment. That is what turns "we take data protection seriously" into something you can demonstrate.

What happens to a suspended member's data?
Nothing is deleted. They lose access and disappear from the directory, and their record stays intact so you can reinstate them. Deletion is a separate, deliberate act with its own thirty-day process.
Can committee members administer only their own chapter?
Roles are built from named grants, so you can create a chapter-admin role holding the member and event permissions without finance, elections or erasure.
Can two people administer at once?
Yes, and the audit log distinguishes them. There is no single shared admin login unless you choose to create one.
